Since October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Charities2Love is proud for the spotlight to be on Hagar’s Heart, a nonprofit in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area that works year round to support survivors of domestic abuse.
The Hagar’s Heart Story & Mission
Founded in 2020 by survivor-turned-advocate Jennifer Jones, Hagar’s Heart was born from a single act of kindness: delivering “I See You” self-care boxes to women in shelter during the pandemic. Today, the nonprofit has helped 4,600+ survivors reclaim a sense of being seen, valued, and loved through practical support and encouragement.
Philosophy: Seen, Valued, Loved
Hagar’s Heart believes healing starts when a survivor knows they matter. Their core values of boundaries, empathy, hope, resilience, and collaboration guide every interaction, from handwritten notes tucked inside each box to partnerships with shelters across five North Texas counties.
Who Hagar’s Heart Serves
They have nonprofit partners with emergency domestic-violence shelters and advocacy centers, focusing on women who have fled abuse and are rebuilding their lives in protective residences.
Hagar’s Heart’s Programs
Hagar’s Heart undertakes a variety of programs to help survivors. Hagar’s Heart’s signature program, “I See You” Boxes, are curated self-care kits stocked with 16 thoughtful items and a handwritten note. These care packages are a tangible reminder that survivors are worthy of rest, joy, and dignity. The organization also has a “Read, Relax, and Renew” program that distributes book-and-wellness bundles for mothers and children in shelters, which encourages literacy and bonding time.

Charities2Love supports Hagar’s Heart with their annual volunteer event
Charities2Love hosted their own volunteer event to support Hagar’s Heart in September, ahead of Domestic Violence Awareness month. Nearly 40 volunteers of all ages spent a few impactful hours to assemble “I See You” boxes for survivors. Details and pictures from the event can be found on the event archives page on the Charities2Love website.
