Introduction
Serving Our Seniors (SOS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in
1981, dedicated to enhancing the lives of older adults through comprehensive support services focused on help, hope, and healing. The organization’s core mission is to provide seniors with the necessary resources to live independently and with dignity.

Philosophy
At the core of Serving Our Seniors (SOS) is our commitment to Help, Hope, and Healing:
● Help seniors maintain independence through practical support services.
● Hope to improve the quality of life for the elderly.
● Healing through social support that enhances mental and physical well-being.
Who We Serve
SOS serves seniors 65 and older or 60+ on disability in 11 communities:
Bedford (76021,22), Colleyville (76034), Euless (76039,40), Grapevine (76051), Haltom City (76117), Hurst (76053,54), Keller (76248), N Richland Hills (76180, 182), Richland Hills (76118),Southlake (76092), Watauga (76148)
Programs
SOS’s initiatives are tailored to meet the diverse needs of the senior community through the following programs:
● Transportation Services: Ensuring that seniors have safe and reliable transportation is crucial for their independence and access to essential services. The Transportation program provides drives to routine medical appointments, grocery stores, pharmacy and social events, thereby helping seniors stay connected with their communities and manage their health proactively.
● Helping Hands: The Helping Hands program focuses on helping seniors remain independent in their own homes. This includes minor home repairs inside and out, safety modifications like the installation of grab bars and ramps, general maintenance work and annual safety checks.
● Social Outreach: To combat loneliness and social isolation among the elderly, the Social Outreach program organizes a variety of activities, including social gatherings, educational workshops, and cultural outings. This program not only fosters a sense of community but also provides emotional and cognitive stimulation that is vital for the mental health of seniors.
Volunteerism and Community Impact
Volunteers are the backbone of SOS, driving the success of its programs and ensuring operational efficiency. By donating their time and skills,
volunteers directly contribute to the welfare of seniors, embodying the organization’s values of help, hope, and healing. The impact of these volunteer efforts is evident in the improved quality of life experienced by the seniors and the stronger community ties that are formed.
