Charities2Love volunteers had an incredible time while making a huge impact at Feed My Starving Children’s “Turn Hunger into Hope” Mega-Volunteer event! More than 65 of our volunteers joined hundreds of other volunteers over the course of a weekend to create meal packs that would be distributed overseas.
Impact of a 2 hour Volunteer Shift
The efforts of our 2 hour volunteer shift not only culminated in old and new friends working together, but collectively creating:
- 503 boxes
- 109.648 meals
- 297 kids fed a daily meal for a year

Volunteer Voices
What does giving a few hours of your time to volunteer feel like?
We asked that question to our volunteers, and received this beautiful response from a seasoned volunteer who has devoted her life to volunteering for many causes. If she sees a need, she is ready to fulfill it!
This is Shobhi Thakrar and I am very much interested in volunteering wherever there is a need to give back to the community, First of all let me thank Urmesh and Maitry to introduce me to Charities2love and give time to so many who are less fortunate and to help the community come together.
I really enjoyed last Saturday (at Feed My Starving Children). I saw the enthusiasm of all the volunteers, young and small, old and fragile, everybody was out there to help. The theme was to care and love those who are less fortunate.
The best part I loved is enjoying my time with those young students. You know, it made me think of my childhood! I enjoyed the enthusiasm and it made me feel like a young, young student again. I am 73 and it made me feel like I am in 7th grade!
I enjoyed working with everybody and making new friends! I’m retired and I always feel that I don’t want to waste time on computers and things that are not necessary. Instead, let’s give some time like this, mingle with people, and share our talents. Let’s make children feel like it’s worth doing all this! They will not only get volunteer hours, but they will get very good at working together, in unity, and meeting new people. Children can make a great difference and be proud citizens if the values are set in childhood!
I will be encouraging all my friends and tell them all to come and do any kind of volunteer work. Even if they can’t stand, they can sit down and work there. There is something for everyone who wants to do something. When I came home, I felt so happy and content! I am sure they will feel the same once they see the difference they can make.
I think it’s just wonderful that I got this opportunity. My passion is to give back to the community and I am so happy I got this opportunity.
You know, you also can help and make the community better, whatever background you come from. We can all unite and make a strong bond and make this community a big affair of giving.
Shobhi Thakrar
We completely agree! Thank you Shobhi Thakrar for taking the time to share your volunteer experience in order to encourage others. You inspire us with your enthusiasm and pure joy to serve others! Thank you for setting a shining example of love and seva (selfless service).
We are truly grateful to all of the volunteers who took time out of their busy schedules to join us to make a difference to help feed children worldwide.
