From Little Hands to Big Hearts: Bringing Hope to Children in Crisis

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month—a time to stand together, raise awareness, and take meaningful action to protect and uplift vulnerable children. Charities2Love and the Color Me SAFE Foundation joined forces during the month of April for a deeply moving volunteer event that did just that. With nearly 100 dedicated volunteers, we created a ripple effect of kindness, support, and community that will be felt far beyond the walls of our event space.

A Day of Purpose, A Room Full of Love

The event space was transformed into a hub of hope and compassion. Stations were thoughtfully arranged to guide volunteers through a journey of creativity, connection, and giving:

  • Card Decorating Station – Volunteers created beautiful handwritten cards filled with hope and positivity. These cards are sent across the country as part of the Cards for Cubs initiative. They will spread smiles and love to foster children.
  • Bracelet Making Station – Little hands and big hearts came together to craft beautiful bracelets, each one a symbol of strength and care. These handmade treasures were tucked into the bags. They will serve as comforting reminders that someone is thinking of each child who receives them.
  • Messages of Hope Station – Volunteers poured their hearts into handwritten cards filled with encouragement and joy. These cards were attached on the outside of the “Hugs of Hope” bags. Each word and message written carrying love, reassurance, and belief in a brighter tomorrow for the children that would receive them.
  • Bag Packing Station – Finally, volunteers packed 100 “Hugs of Hope” bags. Each bag was filled with toiletries, comfort items, stuffed animals, activity books, toys, markers, socks, and books kindly donated by Hindi’s Libraries. In addition, they added the love-filled creations from the other stations. Each bag was assembled with intention, compassion, and the heartfelt desire to bring comfort to children experiencing crisis or transition.

Honoring the Mission: Voices of Impact

What made this event even more powerful were the moving stories shared by our guest speakers. We were honored to hear from two incredible women at the forefront of supporting children in crisis:

Shannon Hendricks from Heart House spoke passionately about their nonprofit’s work with under-resourced children in the Vickery Meadow area of Dallas, providing trauma-informed education and support that empowers them to thrive in a safe and nurturing environment.

Kimberly Santacroce from Isaiah 117 House shared the heartwarming mission of offering children entering the foster care system a place of dignity, comfort, and stability when they need it most.

Their words were a powerful reminder of why we came together—and the tangible difference every card, bracelet, and bag makes in a child’s life.

A Collaboration Rooted in Heart

This event would not have been possible without the incredible collaboration between Charities2Love and Color Me SAFE Foundation. We are filled with gratitude for this powerful partnership and the shared vision that made this day a success. Working together, we created a space where compassion turned into action and strangers became a community of changemakers.

Thank you, Color Me SAFE Foundation, for your heart, leadership, and dedication to protecting and uplifting children. Charities2Love is truly honored to work alongside you—and we are already looking forward to next year’s event, where we’ll once again unite to bring hope and healing to children in crisis.

A Collective Effort, A Lasting Impact

Making the event even more special was that it was a part of Good Deeds Day – a global movement of “Doing Good”. This was more than just a volunteer event. It was a celebration of what’s possible when a community comes together with a shared purpose. From writing words of encouragement to filling bags with love, every moment was a step toward creating a safer, more compassionate world for children.

To every volunteer, partner, and supporter—thank you.
You brought your time, your talents, and your heart. You made bracelets with care, wrote messages with empathy, and packed hope into every single bag. And most importantly, you showed children going through a heart-wrenching time in their lives that they are not alone.

Because when we come together, from little hands to big hearts, we truly can make a difference.
